Default 124gr Recommendations?

In a previous thread I got a couple fellas that suggested 124gr was what their Sigma's perfered. I'm still feeling my way through the vast flavors and have manily shot 115gr.

That's mostly what I find at the stores I go to that carry 9MM ammo. Can you folks who shoot and like a 124gr recommend a brand and store or web site so I at least have somewhere to start my research?

Thanks!

Go find yourself some Nato/Win 124gr FMJ's. Academy has them on sale here right now. They are a near +P round. But will give you a idea of how 124gr slug will work in your pistol.

Only reload 124gr. FMJ for my Sigma and PF-9 for range ammo. Currenty Berry's Bullets. Being plated I keep the powder charge on the low side as if I was loading for lead. Should be moving on the Precession Delta Bullets soon for my range work. I also load up XTP bullets in 124gr and 147gr. I load them a tad hot and they are a blast to shoot!

I dislike 115gr ammo. And only buy it for range rags when I find it dirt cheap and more concerned about collecting the brass than shooting the rounds.

Just look around,,, there is 124gr. and 147gr retail ammo out there in FMJ and JHP. WWB can be found around here in 147gr pretty easy. Try some of that stuff. My Sigma is loaded up with 147gr stuff right now for HD use.

Good luck in your hunt. It's worth the effort. Give simple reloading a look. A whole world opens up to the shooter.....

Thanks for the input Blastfact

Sadly there's no "Academy" (sports stores) near me and their site, just like so many others only show 115gr but I did find some 124gr at MidwayUSA's site.

I'll look in that direction. Is it typical to find these types of loads in 20 packs?

I notice 115gr are typically in 50 packs. I have some Magtech 96gr in a 20 pack which I figured was how "hollowpoints" were sold.

Obviously this is my first hand gun so thanks again for the input.

Thanks! I just picked up a couple boxes of RWS 124gr FMJ at Walfart for 17 bucks. I will have to see how these run through the Sigma next time I'm at the range. (Can't wait!!)

Thanks for the link!

(For newbies like me you can turn the god awful music off to that link on the bottom of their web page. )

I like Remington Golden Sabers. I think Wally-World might carry Winchester PDX1, which is a very good round as well.

Speer Gold Dot has 124gr +p ammo.

I usually buy federal american eagle 124gr for the range, but carry 115gr hornady. The federal goes for 10-13 dollars around here.

Well FWIW I had 3 different types to test with at the range last night and it came down to this for accuracy for me and my gun.

Best over all (not buy much): RWS 124gr FMJ ($16.87 for 50 rnds @ walmart)

Seconed place: WWB 115gr FMJ ($22.00 for 100 rnds onsale @ Dunhams)

Last: Magtech "First defense" 92.6gr JHP( $19.99 for 20 rnds @ a local shop)

124gr seems the way to go so thanks everyone for the input.

Had mine for a couple weeks and have ruun 400 rounds through. I have used RWS 124 fmj, CCI Blazer Brass 115 fmj, Sellier and Bellot 115 fmj, and Ultramax Remanufactured 115 jhp. No issues whatsoever! I am shooting low right with almost any ammo...seems i need to adjust something on me and not ammo
