Thumbs down Wally World Ammo Prices

I just picked up another value pack of Federal 22, and the cost went up $3.50 since last week. Now it's $18.97. Last week, $15.47. That's a pretty big jump.
If you see some cheaper elsewhere, ya better grab it.

yea, it jumped up to $19. at my Wally too. I buy some every time I go there; I believe in staying stocked up on ammo for all calibers that I own guns for, since you never know when it will be available and when it will be needed... I did a quick count last night, and I have over 11k rounds of .22lr so I can get by for quite a while if I stop buying, but somehow I doubt prices will come back down, so yea, I'll keep buying, but at a slower rate. I guess I need to buy more .38, .357, 9mm, .40, .20ga & .12ga.

I just bought a box too of the Federal 550 value pack $18.97. I grabbed it, being the last one on the shelf !! I wish I knew when they had their stock coming in. All the stock boy could tell me is it's hit and miss when they get the ammo in.

Went and checked today. $18.97 and out of stock. Still had the Federal 333 Semi Box in stock. Also had a few boxes of Federal Lightning .40 grains for $1.47 a box. I hadn't read anyone mention those. Picked up a 3 boxes to try out.

I went to the Gun Show yesterday and ALL of the bulk 22 ammo was $25 a box. It was rediculous and needless to say, I didnt get any. But walmart here has FedBulk for $18.97 as well

Walmart out here too but wholesale sports (formerly Sportsmans Warehouse), had 2 crates (100,000 rds) of fed 525 sitting out in an aisle for $16/box 3 weeks ago. Now it's $18/box and half the stock gone. Walmart used to sell win .40 100 rd boxes for $16 this time last year, now it's $28. This is the gun control we need to be worried about. Raising the cost of operating/obtaining firearms is the only way gun control advicates can make an impression, and they're finding it out slowly but surely.

Same hear in So Cal. They rarely ever have the Fed Bulk packs, let alone any .22lr, but to my surprise, yesterday, they had them! I could really only afford to buy 1 box, but still, at $18.97, that IS the cheapest around.

They are 18.97 here in Southern WI at my closest store, haven't looked at the Madison store. Here they've been that price for a while now. When I went in last week I noticed that they have also started carrying the 555 boxes of Winchester Super-X for about a dollar more.

They had a good stock of ammo when I went in... at least 10 boxes of Federal were left and probably 15+ bulk boxes of the Winchester and Remington along with various single boxes of CCI and Remington. I'm happy to see them expanding their selection just so long as they don't ditch the Federal Bulk!!

Its market forces in action, pure and simple supply and demand. Want the price to some down, get everyone to stop buying it. The shelves will over flow with ammo and the price will fall.

I am just a guilty for buying extra also. A year ago I walked out with six two fifty value packs. I felt kinda dirty after that. Lately however I have been saying, I will leave some for the other guy.

If we could establish an unwritten rule that you only buy half of whats on the shelf and leave the rest, I feel it would help. Also dont buy the obvious Walmart stuff at gun shows or other stores. It just creates the market for abuse.

DITTO in central Ohio. The Wally prices jumped within the last 3 weeks from $15.47, to $18.99. This IS quite a jump percentage wise. Still cheap, though.

$23.99 in Alaska, when they have it in stock which is hardly ever.

Thanks for the hope and change.

Plenty on the shelf at $18.97 in Great Falls, MT. That's $1 cheaper than Capitol Sports in Helena.

My WW sometimes had it available. Has been selling for $1.47 for box of 50. I shoot it in my 10-22. Have not tried it in the 15-22 as of yet.

Their prices are terrible. They want more for the winchester 333 packs than walmart wants for the federal 550 packs. Their 9mm ammo is too high too. Even if they had free shipping it would be too much. Don't buy those fiocchi either. No better than the Federal you can buy at walmart for $9.97

Just called my Wallyworld and surprise! He said he's got Federal .22 bulk in stock. Plan to run up there this afternoon and grab a couple of boxes. Sad, I remember not too long ago when it was around 10 bucks a box.

WM priced jumped to 19 bucks here in Chattanooga recently. It seems like this price point has made a difference in buying habits; my local store has had Federal bulk in stock every time I've been in there - including late one Saturday afternoon. That Saturday, I bought 2 bricks, which brings my stash to 19K rounds (not counting what I keep in my range box). My grandson and I put a big dent in the range box ammo yesterday at CRC.

I hate to admit it, but I would pay $50 / brick as long as my grandson enjoys shooting it as much as he does. He's a HUGE fan of my 15-22 and .22-45s. So am I.

Hey neighbor!

I got lucky and picked up a dozen boxes (WM Ooltewah) a couple weeks ago for $15.47. Volunteer Ordinance Works on Lee Hwy in Cleveland seems to always have the 525 packs for $21.

I have an application in at CRC waiting for an opening. My next door neighbor is a member. Prentice Cooper is a long ride and kinda dangerous . I shoot handguns at Sportsman Hixon.

I've always used CCI Mini Mags because that was what I was brought up using. Then I read here good things about the Federal Bulk. So I went to Wally world and they HAD three boxes. I say HAD cause now I have them. I see there just about as fast as CCI Mini Mags. Price was $18.97. Still cheaper than CCI. Picked up two more boxes of Stingers also.

save some for me. is that the Walmart down south or the one in Kennedale? I have a hard time finding any at the new one.
i have noticed that the Academy by the parks seems to be catching up on larger caliber ammo. i went Thursday and they had close to 10k of Brass Monarch 9mm and about 5k of Steel Monarch 9mm. i have not seen that much in one place since i started keeping an eye out. funny, they only had 2 boxes of .22lr though.

Well, ordered my rifle and went to Wally World to pick up some Federal bulk ammo and guess what. Here in San Diego this stuff is "Rare as Hen's Teeth", spoke to several stores and was told as soon as it hits the shelf it's GONE!! Maby this thread is the place to find out when it hits the shelf. So if anyone in San Diego is on this forum and can post what store has some in stock it would be MUCH appreaciated.

Thanks-Bob

I clicked one of the ammo links on top of the Forum page here. It linked to AlamoAmmo.com http://thehuntingsource.com $21.95 for 550 Fed Bulk. That's about the same price the local places in Chattanooga (other than WallyWorld) have the Fed Bulk 525 packs. For 10 boxes of 550 the estimated shipping was $38.82...

Yep, as soon as it went to $18.97, you started seeing it on the shelves. I still buy it though, at Cleveland TN WalMart, Soddy Daisy, and Hixson. I made a run out to Benton Shooters Supply (to pick up my 15-22A1 yesterday) and they had a wide variety of ammo, and the Sportsmans Warehouse has plenty of 22LR Blazer, Rem, Win, CCI. It's out there if you can afford it.

I wish I could get into CRC. :-( Or CHRPC. (Cleveland Hunting Rifle and Pistol Club).

Prentice Cooper is somewhat crazy.

Wonder why Walmart Fed550 has not gone up in TX but something like Rem550 did.

The other strange thing is that WWB 9mm 100ct has gone from $20+ to $23+ (WWB9mm 50ct gone up to $13+) but 38spl 100 ct has the same price as last year - $28.97

I stopped by our Wal Mart (Greenville, SC) yesterday and was surprised to learn that the Federal Bulk packs were $19 when I just bought them for $15.50 a few weeks ago. Annoying, but still the cheapest reliable 22 that I've used.

I haven't been keeping up with the forum recently, so I thought I would come on and see if this was happening elsewhere, but then I found this thread.

Their prices are strange though. At this same Wal Mart they sell the Federal 40s for $13.97 when the other local Wal Marts have them for $14.50. I'll have to check the other ones to see if they still have the 22 bulk packs for $15.50.

One local WM had the Fed 550 boxes for around $15 a few weeks ago. I should have bought some then. Went in a few days ago and bought some for $18 and some change.

Supply seems to be coming back and prices seem to be coming down on the non-.22 cal ammo. While I was there, I noticed they had Fed 9mm 50 rd boxes for $9.97 and white box value packs of 100 of 40S&W for around $30.
