I have a model 60-10 .357 with the 3" barrel. It has the adjustable sights, with the front sight ramp being pinned in place. While cleaning it recently I noticed the front sight can be slightly moved or rocked back and forth. The movement is approximately only a few thousands of an inch. You can rock it forward and when holding it up can see a sliver of daylight under the back bottom of the ramp. You can rock/pivot it back and that daylight diminishes and a sliver of light appears under the front bottom of the ramp. The movement is visible with the eye, but again is very slight. I am wondering if this is a common on model 60 revolvers front sight? Thanks for any replies.
If you bought the gun new, it has a lifetime warranty and S&W seems to be bending over backwards to keep customers happy. I would call their 800 number and tell them about it and ask for them to fix it. They will probably send you a pre-paid shipping label.
I too would just put a drop of locktite or superglue on the sight and call it good to go. Not a critical defect, so I would not waste my time sending it back. If however, you feel that they should make it right, then definitely send it.
