Default chop or replace?

i have a 6in 686, full underlug, and powerported. i dont like the fact that the gun is ported, as i would like to use it for self defense. should i look at chopping it short or just try and trade for something more to my likes?

I say trade it or just sell it and buy what you want. You will be money ahead. Don

I think selling yours to a collector who wants one will pay for a shorter barreled 686, and then some.

Why not just stay with the 686 only non-ported? If your primary use will be SD, why not consider a 686+ as well?

Best of luck,

Dave

well... i dont have much in the way of accessories for the l frames. i have a 3" 13-2 with two holsters and a handful of speedloaders, so another k frame seems like a good solution

You should do ok, trading that 686. I had one that I took to the INDY 1500 gun show. Was in there 10 minutes and a guy offered me a like new Colt Trooper blue 6 inch and 200 bucks.

Have a price in mind you want for your gun, sell it legal for your area. Walk the tables looking for what you want, you might find a dealer who will trade close. Focus on tables where plenty of handguns are visible. Make sure yours is visible. If anyone is interested they will ask to see it. Keep an eye out for anyone walking around with what you want in their hand. You might be able to trade. You have to be ready, if you bring money and buy the exact gun you wanted you might go table to table and take the best offer for your gun to off set what you buy.
