Question NcSTAR Scope with MBUS?

I picked up an "NcSTAR Mark III Compact Tactical Scope 3-9x42 And Mini-Red Dot Sight" combo. I was wondering if anyone had mounted it with the standard quick disconnect (no riser) and a Magpul MBUS.

If you check out the sight on RRages.com, it looks like he's got it mounted with the Troy Folding Rear Sight clone with no problem.

NCStart with Troy Sight:
NC Star Mark lll Tactical Mil Dot Scope 3-9x42 Illuminated Reticle With Mini Red Dot Sight
Troy Sight:
Troy Folding Rear Sight Clone

The actual Troy sight says the profile is 0.460" when folded. I'm making a leap here that the clone is the same. I found a link saying that the MBUS was 0.630” when folded. Since it looks tight, I thought I would ask if anyone has done the NcSTAR and MBUS.

Thanks in advance for any info.

I got a reply back from rrages regarding Troy clone folded height.

"About 12 or 13mm above the rail when folded."

Not sure why you would need back up irons considering you have a scope (with a reticle) and a red dot already ... if the batteries go dead, all you will lose is the illumination in the 3-9x42, and if it's bright enough for you to use irons, you can use the etched reticle ...

@ChattanoogaPhil
My attempt at providing good details for comparison may have created confusion about my question. I'm wondering if the Magpul MBUS will fit under the scope. The Troys appear to fit, but the dimensions I found suggest the MBUS is taller when folded. (Also, greetings from Knoxville.)

@ ~tc~
Need, no. Want, yes. This is my first rifle and I just want to play with some extras as a learning experience. Hopefully I'll get a big brother to the 15-22 and some of these things will find a new, less redundant home.

Huskey,

Hey neighbor.

Send George at rrages.com an e-mail asking directly. He'll tell ya.

That's a big ^5 on the 'want'.

For sure. Let's see... there's at least three who live in this area. Falling Water (we've been shooting), FredTn, Turboniumoxide (we've been shooting) and Huskey a ways up the road in Knoxville. . One of these days we'll have to coordinate a shoot with the TN/N.GA/N.AL 15-22 Gang

Here's the 2010 Magpul Money Pit Catalog. It has pics of the Gen2 MBUS. They're supposed to be a lower profile to better accommodate fitting under optics.

Earlier this year a CS rep at Magpul said that they were supposed to be released in April. Have heard nothing definite since. I'm watching daily. I figure they won't last long when they hit the web and I want a set.
