Default UNKNOWN .44 S&W TOP BREAK

Does anybody recognize this .44 cal revolver. On barrel there is stamping smith & wesson sprigfield mass... and russian model. Left side of frame is stamping .44 cal and NI 1633. Bottom of handle is number 11XX. Revolver has been nickel plated.

S&W First Model Russian, early 1870s. In demand. Even in semi-rough shape, as this one appears to be, it is worth several hundred dollars.

And welcome to the forum. Nice way to make an introduction!

EDITED TO ADD: On reflection, I was in too much of a hurry to convey good news to a new member. I am persuaded by the comments of the others and believe their observations are correct. Too much of this gun is NOT consistent with a First Model Russian. It is undoubtedly a copy.

Somethings not right though. The triggerguard looks wrong and the hammer profile is wrong. Also the part under the barrel where the ejector assembly runs is way too short. Something doesn't feel right about this one. Also on a first model Russian I believe there are supposed to be two screws where the screw goes through the barrel hinge.
I think this may be an imitation of a S&W from the same era.

Every time I open this thread there's a different order of the postings! Lee must have got his next month's order of corn likker a little early! -- No doubt about it , that's gun is a foreign copy of a S&W. Ed.

Also something about the grip profile doesn't look right. (Nor the end of the barrel.)

I think foreign copy.
