Default Tornadoes & Talladega

All races, etc cancelled for today. Lots of nasty storms and rain in the area. They estimate that 50,000 people are camping at the track. We are lucky to be in a nice motel with internet access and full coolers. I have visited a couple of gunshops and pawnshops, but did not go to the DCM, way at the far end of town from us. Besides, I have not fired the ammo I bought last year or the year before. I did see a M-21 classic, with lock for 399 at a pawn shop.

It does look like the weather will be ok for the races tomorrow. I even had free tickets for today. I hope all of the campers are and will continue to be safe.

Hate those darn Tornadoes, a mild one (if there is such a thing) hit our area about 3 years ago. It got several of my neighbors houses, but only took out about 200 trees on our property, mostly 80 ft tall white pines. Hope all those campers are aright. That must be on heck of a bad time in those campers.

Thanks,

Snowdoggie

*Back in the day* I did several jobs at Dover Air Force Base. Race weekend I'd either go home or get a room in Philly. That drive usually takes 1 hour (about 70 miles to the Philly airport) but 3 hours on race weekend. Everything from Dover to Philly was taken those weekends! The local business guys would pray for rain - extending their rip-off for at least one more day.
My $29.99 room went for $145/night those weekends! It also cost a LOT more $$$$ to eat in the Dover area those 2 weekends.
This was 10+ years ago though - Hopefully things have got better since then, but I'd bet that the prices went UP not down

they seem to have gotten the race started ok.
hope all our friends that way are safe and got their gear squared away for your brand of natural disaster.
we only worry about quakes out here. the best part is you know its coming but not when or how strong. you guys in tornado and hurricane areS know when it coming and how strong.
