Tell me about the S&W 622
I just bought one today, I'll get to put my hands on it again in 10 days. It's the 4.5" barrel with target sights. I've looked around online and found very little information on the gun. Even on this forum, I've searched, and didn't come up with hardly anything. I know it was only made for a few years, along with the 422.
So how do you guys like this one? Good, bad, indifferent, etc...?

I have three in the series, all with 6" barrels. A 622, similar to yours. A 422, blued version. And 2206, all stainless.
I love 'em. They feel great in the hand. All are extremely accurate. And I've never had a single problem with any of them. Everyone I know that has one has no intention of letting it a go. I know some that did, and I read about some that did, and almost all regret doing it.
Shoot and enjoy. Mine will shoot just about anything I put in them.
They made a number of variations. 622s came in 4" and 6", both versions with adjustable and fixed sights. Ditto for the 422. There's a little pocket size model in blue with a 3" barrel and 8-rd magazine (2214), and ditto in stainless/aluminum (2213). The 2206 came in two variants, both with 6" barrels. Both are full stainless with adjustable sights. One has a vent rib and one doesn't.
There you have it. Shoot, collect them all and go crazy figuring out which one you'll shoot today!

That about sums it up. I was one of those people who sold his (422) and regret it. I think S&W made a serious mistake when they stopped making the 422/622/2206/2213/2214 series for the 22A series. Some people like the 22A's, which is fine, but in my book the 422/622 are some of the best casual plinking autos ever made. After you get yours hand on it and shoot it, I am sure you will agree.

I think that's true of any rimfire but good advice none the less.

I have a 4.5" 2206, which is the same gun in all stainless. I purchased it new when they first came out in the early 90's, and have put 1000's of rounds down the tube with very few problems. Mine has the same 3 dot sights as the S&W 3rd Generation semi autos, so it makes a great companion gun for my 9mm 3906.

This series of pistols are great guns. The barrel lengths were 4.5" and 6". I wore the finish off two other #422 pistols through heavy use. I am constantly searching for others.

4.5", not 4"! Thanks. I thought they were 4". I've never owned a shorter barreled model so I was just stating what I'd read elsewhere.
