Default Bolt Disassebly for detailed cleaning

Hello all! This is my first post on this forum. I should do an intro post but I'll do that later. I will say that this is the most informative, polite and friendly forum that I belong to.

Has anyone posted a procedure on breaking down the bolt -- specifically the recoil rod, spring and rail unit? Brett248vista, I checked out your videos on Youtube but didn't find one specifically for this (by the way, thanks for the awesome videos). I guess I should ask - how many of you break this down at least occasionally, for cleaning?

I've only put about 250 rounds through the 15-22 - already cleaned it once and still need to clean it after my last session. The gun has been awesome, so far. One FTE when I was shooting Winchester 333 box. This is one fun gun!

Thanks!

I do break mine down, I rarely remove the extractor though, and by break down, I just pull the bolt off the rails (remove the guide rod and spring).

That's pretty much the extent of it! I've really been slacking on videos lately, sorry about that!

Default Detail Strip Of The Bolt/Rail Assembly

Stripping down the bolt/rail assembly for a thorough cleaning is a simple task. I do this after every range session.

1. Place the entire assembly on a flat surface.

- Essentially, there are 3 main components to this set-up . . . 1) The Bolt 2) The Recoil rod and spring 3) The Rail unit

2. At the end of the Rail unit, pull the recoil spring down towards the bolt.

- Once the spring is pulled down some 1/2", you will see that the recoil rod is has 2 flat sides.

3. While pulling down on the spring and exposing the flattened portion of the recoil rod, push the base of the recoil rod up (the end where the recoil rod threads through the guide on top of the bolt) towards the rail unit.

- The flattened sides of the recoil rod should line up with the slot at the end of the rail unit . . . Pull the recoil rod out of the rail slot. The rest should be self explanatory.

Excellent! I've been looking for a way to keep my 15-22 clean and the only part I couldn't figure out was the bolt.
