Default Smith Wesson Model 042.

I have looked at a S/W Model 042 and it's NIB. The thing that I don't understand is, it's a new production box. Anyone seen or heard of one of these?

I bought a 042 approx 15 to 18 years ago. Ended up trading it for a 638 3 or 4 years ago. My mistake, 638's are pretty common, 042's are rare and pretty pricey. Didn't realize that when I traded. Finish on 042 is far superior to current blue guns. I sure wish I had it back.

What do you describe as new production box?

Clamshell cardboard ,or blue plastic.

Get the special order # off the end and we can find out the
production date from that.
Probably early 1990s.
Under $500. ,,buy it. More than that, ?

Good luck ,Allen

It's in a new production blue plastic case.

It's not a model 42, it's a 042 airweight high gloss.
