Caje's Bible study
Leviticus 11:12 " Whatsoever hath no fins nor scales in the waters, that shall be an abomination unto you."
In other words, God hates shrimp.

I had a Pastor once that wouldn't eat Catfish for that reason. Poor man, I felt sorry for him. But I got to eat the Catfish.

I figure God does the same as I do, he peels the scales from the shrimp before eating them. Shells, scales or what ever one calls it, they be good eating.

Funny, because we had this passage in Sunday School last Sunday, along with a discussion for the practical reasons for some of these Levitical laws in Israel BC. I told our pastor that I interpreted the passage where the priest is supposed to inspect garments to make sure there was no mildew in them to mean that he was supposed to be responsible for making sure that his deacon's drawers are clean. He reminded me that we are a New Testament Church.

Yep.
Up until the time of the flood everything and everyone was vegetarian. When Noah and his family came out of the ark, God told them that everything that moved would be food for them. The restrictive food laws were given to Moses on Mt. Sinai for the Jews at the time. Now in the New Covenant we're told we once again eat whatever we want.
And I do love shrimp and catfish.

Leviticus 11: 20 "All winged insects that go upon all fours are an abomination to you. Yet among the winged insects that go on all fours you may eat those which have legs above their feet, with which to leap on the earth. Of them you may eat: the locust according to its kind, the bald locust according to its kind, the cricket according to its kind, and the grasshopper according to its kind. But all other winged insects which have four feet are an abomination to you."
Well, there you have a fine example of why we should unquestionably adhere to the gospel. I won't be eating any insects that have legs below their feet, lest I offend the deity that created them. Anyone able to suggest bald locust recipes?

If you ever want a chuckle, go to this site, "The Brick Testament", bible passages played out with Lego's:
The Brick Testament
Now, there are some odd stories in the bible, many not covered on Sunday morning. Many of these are explored in the "Brick Testament"....
