I use a S&W leather holster for mine. It is the only holster I have with the S&W logo on the snaps. My 36 is a snubie.

The Model 36 is a relatively easy weapon to carry concealed. I recommend a pancake-style holster designed for high-ride strong-side carry with modest butt-forward cant. These will usually just disappear under any loosely-fitted cover garment.

I use the cheap Uncle Mikes pocket holster for mine (size 3) and a DeSantis Gunhide ankle holster when my back is especially sore.
I actually carry my 37 more than the 36 due to it's lighter weight but the 36 isn't bad to carry either.

Other than appendix carry, I think if you're going to carry a belt gun, you might as well carry something full size. YMMV on that one. Bell Charter Oak has IWB holsters that look good for appendix IWB carry although I have yet to get one.

For the most part, I think of J frames as pocket guns and think that given what you're wearing and/or doing more than one pocket holster might be good to have. I get better concealment from my Mika PH, but sometimes the retention of my Kramer makes more sense. I'll bet my friend Lobo, who poster above, could make a similar, equal quality, boned holster that's much like a Kramer for much less and you'll likely get it quicker.

Last time I saw an Uncle Mike's PH it was made in Vietnam. No thanks. I'm done with "Uncle Ho".

Too many on this forum love his product and universally speak of a great experience when they've dealt with Ray. There is no way you can go wrong with his product, price, or delivery time.

I have an older Uncle Mike's pocket holster (not Vietnamese) for my P3AT and it's a decent unit. It really has worn very well and ought to last for many years. When an UM's pocket holster gets dirty, just run it through the washer and dryer with your clothing.

Thanks flop-shank. I normaly check tags for US made products but this one slipped past me. They do put the made in Vietnam on the flip side of tag so is easy to miss. I'll not be dealing with them regardless in the future and again thanks for pointing this out.
FWIW I'm an American by choice and not by birth and do support her and her products when I can.

I used to carry mine in a Desantis Nemesis pocket holster until I recently made myself a leather pocket holster.

I would use a holster. A PH will protect your gun somewhat from perspiration and lint. It will reduce wear on your clothing and, most important, keep the gun oriented properly should you need to draw it. Many here like the Mika PH (just google "Mika holster"). It's made in Wisconsin and only costs thirty bucks. Lobo could make you something for a very reasonable price as well. That's not a problem. I'm just pretty vehemently against buying products made in a select few countries and believe that Americans would do well to remember who their friends and enemies are.

I carry a Ruger SP-101[ basicly the same size as a 36/60 in a
Bianchi Model 5 holster. A Bianchi 5BHL should work just as well.

I have 3 LOBO holsters, and they work! The J Frame I have fits my 36, 40 & 940. No straps to un-snap, but the gun is very secure.
This is my K Frame one, the J Frame looks the same, just smaller.

Try Kramer Holsters. They make a REAL sharp pocket holster for the J frame.

I solved my 36 snub carry problem with this IWB from SideGuard. They call this one the DoubleSnap and it is real handy especially if you have to take the holster off frequently.

I can see that I am coming to the party late (as usual), but let me offer a +1 (or is it +5 now?) on Lobo Gun Leather. I have the Lobo Enhanced Pancake holster for my j-frame. Two words to describe this holster: "love" and "it", in that order.

Like Flop, I also use a Mika Pocket Holster when attire permits (usually a jacket pocket or shorts pocket), and I use a basic Uncle Mike's clip-on IWB around the house. I wouldn't use the Uncle Mike's anywhere but home because the clip doesn't secure well to a belt, in my opinion. Fortunately, I normally don't wear a belt at home.

I have a few other holsters, but those three see the most use by far.

After 37 years of carrying a 2" Chief Special Revolver, the #1-best holster I have found so far is the Kramer Belt Scabbard in Horsehide. Along with one of his Horsehide belts and cartridge carriers, its an unbeatable combo for me. When I dress a bit lighter, or when the mood strikes, the DeSantis Nemesis pocket holster is hard to beat. I have a closet full of holsters for this particular carry gun (at least 30 - 35 holsters) and even including the ones I have had custom made by Milt Sparks & Bruce Nelson, I will still declare the Kramer rig #1.

Most of the time I carry in a pocket holster, though every now-and-then but especially if I'm doing any amount of driving, I use a crossdraw holster made for me by Tom Dyer at Saguaro Gun Leather. I like his work and I like him.

Bainchi md 100 pro iwb is what i used for my 637 snubbie. I loved it and took a lil to break it in but was worth it. I could carry it out of sight or with my shirt tucked behind it. Also cover the trigger nicely imo. hope that helps ya

When I carry my 638 it's in my pocket in a Galco Pocket Protector that I got direct from S&W (and it has the S&W logo on it).

The Model 60 snubbie (just like the M36 except it is all stainless) is my 24/7, everyday carry.

Always carry it in my right front pocket in a Bianchi "Pocket Change" holster. I've tried Uncle Mike and a no name "rough out" leather, but the Bianchi is my favorite.

I guess I've been using this particular holster for about six years now, every day. You can go all day and forget you are pack'n.
