Default Non OEM Magazies

Aloha,

Not quite S & W related, sort of.

I have a C--- and want/need magazines for it. I have looked around, more or less.

Genuine factory mags are $30(or so) while MetalForms are $19 (or so).

Are Metalform mags as reliable as genuine factory?

Thank You

I've read many times that Metalform makes or used to make the 1911 magazines for Colt.

Here's one link saying this.

1911 Magazine FAQ

CDNN has various Metalform .45 acp mags starting with 7 rd blue at $8.99 iirc, with lower shipping and freebies on weekend internet orders.

Metalform mags are good, also Wilson, CheckMate, MecGar, Tripp, Chip McCormick.....

I was reading my owners manual for a new 1911 S&W I bought.

Stated in there that the use of any mag other than S&W could cause malfunctions and void the warranty.

Granted, I am not worried about the mags causing a problem and if they do, I will have a local gunsmith repair it.

Try the off-brand mags.... if they work well all is good. If not, then just return them.

I usually like to stick with factory mags if the gun is for carry/home defense. However I wouldn't hesitate to use Metalform or mecgars. Some other good mags have been mentioned already. On the other hand I would not use Triple k's or any "low bid" surplus mags if my life depends on the gun.
