Default New to me K-22

Devil made me do it. Very nice 1953 vintage, # K 187600 with what I hope is a factory target hammer. Roger Bain. He has some nice S&W's. No box, but the revolver is better than 98%. Big Larry

Here's my '53 vintage K22. They kinda grow on you.

Interesting thing about K22's and target hammer. My 1953 has a target hammer and grips but I do not believe there was a target trigger then. You will love it as I do with all K22's. I dearly love that revolver.

It's a good match with this 1952 .22 Combat Masterpiece. The grips are an add on. Just won them at auction. Numbered grips are in my parts box. Big Larry

Excellent revolver; I like that big target hammer.

I have another 1953 K-22, K196xxx, where the x's represent not modesty but poor memory. Has the regular speed hammer (or fish hook, for those who use the term).

K-22s of any era are just wonderful guns.

Glad to see it is a poor memory and not paranoia.
I will letter that first K22 and am hoping that it came with the target hammer. If not, I will be on the prowl for an original. Thanks, Big Larry

Did you letter your gun? I also have a K196xxx gun that I have not lettered. I can't remember my x'ed numbers either and it is just too hot (96 degrees and 50% humidity)to go check.

I hadn't intended to letter it because it doesn't speak to me the way some of my other K-frames do. But it is a nice standard gun in pretty good shape. No box, tools or papers. Just a basic 5-screw K-22.

Ah, just remembered the full serial : K196446

Here's a pic:

.

Sorry the photo is so dark. I need to rephotograph this one. But even in brighter light, the stocks will stay dark. Very deep toned wood with aged oil.

I learned through the SWCA that this one was shipped in December 1953.

Nice Big Larry, there's nothing better that a k-22 & a bunch of ammo. Accurate, triggers to die for, quality, just some of the things that come to mind with these old smiths.

My shooters, took the origional grips off. Don't know what year my 4 & 5 screw k-22's are, not sure about the 41 either. But they sure are fun, enjoy.

Look what someone did to this one. It still is a nice revolver. Just not original.

I saw a M14 in a sellers display case last Reno show. It was dolled up with the jeweling of the hammer and trigger. Less than $300, and I passed on it. Everyone else did as well, it was still there when the show closed. I did manage a minty, in the box 4 screw M14. 2 years ago, you could not give a M14 away.I only saw two at the show, and not one K22. Reno is a rather big show too. A couple years back, at the Reno show, my bro in law bought a very mint 1948 vintage K22 with the type one target grips for just over $500. Now, the grips alone are worth $125 or more. Where will it end. Smiths are hot right now. Big Larry

Kinda? To say the least! Can't have to many, can't see them enough.
