Default Help with fit problem with Hogue grips

I purchased some Hogue Coco Bolo grips directly from Hogue for my 4566. The shipping was very prompt; however, the grips do not fit all too well. There is a gap along the back and enough play at the front of the grips to allow a card to slip into it. The screws are as tight as I can get them. The grips even rattle. I emailed Hogue if there is way that I can fix this or make an exchange.

According to their prompt reply, the best thing to do is send them my gun, so the guys can fit the grip. They said that there are enough differences in frames that this does happen from time to time. Or they can do an exchange, but who knows they will fit better.

I’m hesitant to send the gun, but maybe I should just send the frame. Does the frame need to go thru a FFL or can it be sent directly to Hogue in CA? Any other suggestions?

In a sense - you're screwed!
The frame has the S/N and thats what would drive overnight delivery and the consequential cost.
You could ask for replacements first before going with the return or, if your handy with tools like a Dremel, you could carefully review where its not fitting correctly and then remove some wood for improved fit. Its not a great solution but possible. I've only has a couple of Hogues for autos but never encountered any issues but it doesn't mean they don't occur.

Are you 100% certain that the're seated correctly. If I remember correctly, there is a metal tab along the front edge of each panel that has to slide under the grip frame. Sometimes it takes a little doing to get the tabs into the right position. Check the diagram that came with the grips.

Yeah, that's what I thought. I'll exchange them for another set and see if they fit. If they don't, I'll try the dremel. Thanks for the reply.

Moon,

Yes, the metal tabs are positioned correctly. I triple checked to make sure. Thanks for your reply.

Thanks rockhammer. I'll post a follow-up once resolved.

First off Hogue is a really good company to deal with.

I also had a stock for a revolver that didn't fit properly, it was supposed to be a round-butt, but the cut-out was not in the correct position. A call the next day to Hogue, a return of the stocks and within a week I had the correct stock installed on my revolver.

The explanation was that the wrong stock was in the box. It happens. I would try the exchange before anything else.

Default Follow-up with Hogue grips

Here’s a follow up to the loose grip saga. I've been corresponding with Roni , a customer service rep from Hogue and received a RMA number and returned the loose grips. The replacement grips arrived yesterday and they didn’t charge me shipping again. The fit is great. I thanked Roni and all the great folks at Hogue. Here are the obligatory photos:
