Default 5906 Police turn in - how do I find Dept.

I just picked up what the dealer (Four Seasons in Woburn MA) said is a former Police gun. They had no info on it, and there are no markings on it. They gave me the name of the distributor they got it from and I tried to contact the distributor several times with no success.

I am trying to find out some history on the gun. I tought maybe getting a Factory Letter and then hope the distributor the gun was originally sold to is still in business and trying to contact them and see if they will tell who they sold it to.

Any ideas from anyone out there?

The factory letter will probably tell you the distributor. In the past, guns were shipped directly to departments or even individual officers, but this is not usually the case with modern guns.

You can call S&W customer service and give them the serial no. of the pistol and they can tell you where it was delivered as new from the factory. They may or may not tell you a police dept. name, but only the city and what year it left the factory. Here is the info to call customer service. zorro49 Contact Us - Smith & Wesson
