Default metal prep before electroless nickle

I have a new acquisition (yes, another project). I wish to remove the 'Nitron' Black finish, which should leave bare stainless for most parts, and then white steel in the others. Has anyone done this? I am thinking that glass bead would remove the finish in the easy to get to places, but what about the cracks and crevices?

The electroless nickle process does not involve any heat, so I am not worried about treated surfaces, but I want to make sure that I get an even, non-glare, finish without having to send it off to the tune of $300....anyone done this at home? The chemicals are relatively safe and can be done in a small tupperware dish.

And to preempt the question that I just know is coming.....No, it is not a Smith & Wesson.....juts a cheapo project gun that I bought to hone my skills on

and yes, I will post some before and after photos once things get rolling.

Bead blasting should do the job even in the tight areas. Just be sure to aim the nozzle properly to hit the bottoms of the crevices. It's what would be done if you send it out for plating.

Default Thanks WOB

Thanks buddy, that makes me feel a bit better about the small areas...I was dreading the thought of a chemical stripper process to bring it into the white.
