Start by reading some good reloading Manuals like Speer and Hornady to name a few, George.

I started 1.5 yers ago.

Main reasons:

-Availability
-Shoot more
-Save money

The only thing that did not pan out was the savings; I shoot so much more that I spend about the same ;-)

An unexpected turn of events is that reloading has become a hobby in itself.

Regarding info, Google is a good place to start. That's where I found everything. The only book I have bought is Modern Reloading. Mostly for the load data. There are many load data books, I am sure they are all more than adecuate.

Good luck

If you will check the reloading section on this forum most of your questions are likely answered there. They cover cost, load data, equipment etc.

The reloading forum is the place to go for a lot of detailed info. However, I'll tell you this: Don't spend a fortune on your first setup, you may discover its not for you. A lot of folks make it sound like you need the best progressive press available or its simply not worth it. I started handloading in 1994. I didn't get a progressive machine until 2000, and even then I only loaded .45 ACP on the progressive, everything else I still loaded on my RCBS Rock Chucker single stage.

Get the ABCs of Reloading (a book) and read it. It will teach you a lot, and its a very minor investment.

You can save a significant amount of money on a cost per round basis handloading if you do it the right way.

Another good book to get is "Modern Reloading", 2nd Edition, by Richard Lee. To me, it is the "bible" of reloading. I have been reloading since 1980. Although this book is geared towards Lee equipment, it clearly explains how and why certain procedures are done, plus it has lots of reloading data. If I could only have one reloading book, this would be it.
Most gun shops should have it in stock, or Cabela's.
