Default 3" Mod 66--Info Please

Model 66-4; 3 inch with "BU" serial number. This is non-magna ported (NMP). SCSW doesn't mention a 3 inch NMP but Fiestad's Blue Book does and states "less than 2500 produced". Curious; appreciate you thoughts regarding year produced, value etc. Thanks...

how come no pics????

other members may have more information...but what little i have learned is that there were over 5000 3" 66s produced, but the majority (4195) were dash 2s made for Ashland Shooting Supplies.
Not sure how many 3" -3s, or -4s were made.

i have an unported 3" 66-4, ser. # CAAxxxx. shipped to RSR Wholesale, Nov '94.

Thanks for the info Jughed. My serial number matches up close to yours so perhaps mine is also a RSR. So, given the scarity what do you think is a reasonable value?

My non ported 3" 66-4 CAAXXXX was one of 500 3" 66-4's for RSR in 1994.

IIRC there were another 500 in 1995. My guess would be that yours is from that batch. You might want to call RSR and see if they can tell you for sure, based on your serial number. Good luck! Regards 18DAI.

1sg I also have a 3 inch model 66-4, serial # BUH27XX is close to yours. Great gun. This one is not magna-ported, double action only with a bobbed hammer. Came with a pair of factory combats on it. Bought it at a gunshow about 18 months ago for $500 OTD.

18DAI: Thanks for the info. I did a google search for RSR; there are a few firearms related hits for this; CA, FL, etc. Can you give me more info or a link please? Thanks...

Search gun broker for completed auctions in the last 90 days to get an
idea of AUCTION values of the model 66.

Prices range from $600. for a shooter to $900.-$1000. for new in box.

Very cool K magnums, fun to shoot, and collectible.

66-2 ,66-3 ,66-4 magna-port , 2 66-5s..

Regards , Allen Frame

I bought this one slightly used many years ago. The paper was in the box. After I bought it another gunshop about 7 miles away had a identical one except it had a white plastic or ivory diamound inset in the grip. I never got a letter, but I belive it might have been a lew horton overun, or never sent to lew horton but the gunshop in lancaster calif where I bought it. It did not have the rubber grips as on the sheet, but came with the smooth combat as was the only other one I seen. Mine is serial # 088. Supposedly it is one of 300? Mine is ported and has the trilijon sight as described. It is a 66-3, 3".
