Hay. i'm looking at buying this 629 on line.Buyer lists as Center Performance, but one of the pics.shows open cylinder and cylinder frame.I noticed some surface wear inside of frame above ser.and model #.Looking to see what the cause i noticed two set screws on opposing face of cylinder crane arm that closes against frame when closed. This is a LE of 300 and can't find pics to compare. But i have NEVER seen a S&W with set screws there. Is this a CP option or has this gun been reworked by somebody else.Gun looks clean but this is a red flag to me.Any ideas.

You probably want to post this in the "S&W revolvers 1980 and up" section. It sounds like it might have detent balls in the crane area for additional cylinder lockup, that would be common on a PC revolver.
Thanks. This gun has no ball detent on front of cyl. crane that locks up with barrel shroud. The set screws are on the side of the crane arm that faces the inside of the cyl. frame when closed.I'm wondering if somebody replaced cylinder but i don't get the set screws?
I don't know if the two set screws on the cyl. crane on this 629 was done by S&W CP shop or somebody reworked this gun.I have never seen this on a S&W. Any ideas.

Ejector rod does not look like a stock item. I would assume the set screws have to do with the ejector rod. Also, you may be correct about the cylinder, as the one in the photo is a non-fluted cyl.
