Smile Robbery / Mugging That Didn't Happen

Hi:
I have returned to "God's Country".
While down in the "SunShine State" attending a family medical emergency that turned into a Funeral I stopped by a Bank's AMT. This was early and Bank Employees were coming to work. As I stopped at the bank parking lot entrance My attention was drawned to a "Foxie" petie young lady crossing the lot with a bank bag and keys in her hand. Right behind the young lady was a tall adult African-American Male riding a bicycle. The Bicycle Rider was coming right up on the Lady's left side looking hard at the bank bag. I exited my vehicle, making sure that my CCW was not hindered under my vest. The Bicycle Rider observed me and rode rapidly in the oppositive direction.
The lady thanked me for being there as the Bicycle Rider had been following her since she left her store. I walked with her to the bank entrance. Before leaving I gave her some "Fatherly Advice".
Jimmy

Jimmy,

Good for you!
And even better for the young lady's sake.

We really never stop lookin' out for other folks,
it's just our nature. I guess.

I know the feeling: about a year ago, I stopped into a mattress firm to get a new pillow. The girl there was a hot blonde who shouldn't have been working alone at night in that strip mall.

A creepy looking guy, probably homeless, eased out of the store as we stood talking, and she told me that he was scaring her. Had come in and been looking her over pretty eagerly. She'd called her boyfriend, who lived nearby, but he didn't arrive until I was completing my purchase.

The Temperpedic (sp?) pillow was actually so expensive that I put it in layaway, intending to get it out in a week or so.

But the boyfriend conferred with her and ran out to my car, insisting on paying off the pillow. Said that the chick was convinced that I'd saved her from rape or worse. (The homeless guy did look pretty shifty and predatory.)

I finally accepted, and got a $140 pillow for half price! (How's that for karma?) And felt good for having possibly saved the girl from unwanted advances that would have probably been of a forceful nature.

I had no gun on me, and wondered if the creep did. I needed him to close enough for me to use a Benchmade lockblade knife, had action been needed. Thankfully, he just left, sparing us all from potential grief.

Girls that good looking just have no business working a job like that alone. I suspect that the boyfriend may have owned the store, but it seemed impolite to ask.

JimmyJ, I'm glad that you were there. That fellow whom you described must have felt pretty thwarted! I hope the girl learned not to walk alone with a cash bag!

Good job on the situational awareness Jimmy! Sometimes destiny puts the right person in the right place at the right time, it sounds like yesterday was your turn...

One thing to keep in mind. If you see a man grabbing a bank bag from a woman, how are you 100% it is a robbery and not a set-up where the woman has a deal to be "robbed" to later split the money?

Let the truth be known jimmyj.
It was the "hat", the NRA hat that scared him away, wasn't it? Not only have you become a chick magnet, now you're a Super Hero!
I think you need a cape to go with the hat.
Nice job!

Hi, John (WhiteCoyoto):
Fortunely I wasn't wearing the "NRA Cap" or I am sure the young lady would have "Moved" on me.
However I like the "Cape" idea. What type and color would go with the "Cap"?

Good looking or not, no young woman should have to work alone in such a place.

Either way you're preventing a felony.

Oh yeah and good job jimmy and you're right. If you'd been wearing your hat she might've tried to follow you home.

Wow, this begs a whole new thread!
IMHO, the cape should be black, so you can move around in stealth mode.
Type? Maybe someone else can help with that.

Cape, sure, Cap, you bet, but the complete ensemble includes tights and codpiece style briefs, as well. You're just not an appropriately attired civilian crime fighter without them. And then, there are accessories: utility belts, &tc., without which you are underdressed, if not underequipped, for forceful interventions.

I suggest consulting Gator Farmer, our resident expert in such matters, although, costuming is not his apparent strong suit...

I once saw Frank Sinatra save someone from being killed in an alley behind the Flamingo in Vegas....4 huge Italian types were kicking the stuffing out of some poor shnook and Frank stepped up and said, "Okay, he's had enough." What a guy!

Well, ahem... not to mention the implicit moral turpitude implied by hanging about in alleys behind the Flamingo in Las Vegas with the likes of Sinatra, the stereotypical characterization of "Italian types" is especially offensive to those of us who are equally obnoxious thugs of other origin ...
