Default Thought you guys would get a kick out of this

This is my grandson, on his last weekend of freedom, (he started kindergarten Monday), shooting his Great-great Grandfathers Remington "Improved" model 6, and his Great Grandfathers Winchester 1906, the first gun I ever shot. It was the day after his sixth birthday. (And yes, he's a southpaw).

Great pics Jim! I too remember a day similar to yours.

That's not a gunsmithing hammer is it? If so, I hope Shooboy doesn't get wind of this!

Now that is quality time. My son and his family visited for a few days the first of August, with my 10 yr. old grandson and had a blast, going to a Braves game, fishing and a trip to the range. My son knew I had a new 22 fr my grandson and after he shot it and got into it, I asked him if he liked it and he said he liked it a lot and I told him I was glad because it was his. His head snapped around so quick I though it would come off and he had a big grin. It was a nice Win. model 77 tube feed with a period Weavre 3-6x on it. That was worth the world to me. He shot my Ruger 44 spl. Blackhawk and at 10 yds. put'em right where they belonged. We had a little contest and my son won it. He told my grandson that he got a rifle and he came in last and my son won and wanted to know what he was getting and looked at my Ruger and I quickly told him, that ain't it. He pouted the rest of the day.
Can't beat a day like that.

Good to see a young person enjoying shooting. It is a scene the young ones and the older folks will never forget.
My first gun came at the age of eight and it was a Remington Improved Model 6. My daughter, grandson and great-grandson all learned to shoot with it and I hope it gets continued use on down the line.

Nice to see the youngster shooting. Now, I must be a nag: Eye protection is always a good idea.

Go ahead and nag. There's no excuse for not having eye protection. He actually had on a pair of tinted safety glasses and took them off. As far as the ear protection, we were using CB Shorts, so that was a conscious decision. I did suit him up later and he fired my Gold Cup twice, but I did'nt have my tripod and had to be "hands on" so to speak. As far as the sight adjustment tool, I never leave home witout it .
