Default Stainless 34-1?

I visited a local gun shop this afternoon on my lunch break and they had a 34-1 4" for $489. The revolver looked to be stainless, not nickel. I wanted to look at it but the counter guy was busy taking on the phone and did'nt seem to want to help anyone in the store. Was the 34-1 offered in Stainless?

No, but perhaps the gun has a brushed hard chrome finish, as that looks alot like stainless.

Thats what I was thinking, but could'nt get the gun in my hand to see for sure. I dont visit that shop much because the guy is pretty un-friendly but got a tip he had some used S&W .22 revolvers in stock.

Default Mod. 34

Always interested in S&W .22's, sent you a PM. Wondering if this is on the wet side or dry side, I assume you're in WA.
Thanks, Jim

Several possibilities.

1. It's nickel but dull and lifeless.

2. It is actually devoid of any finish and you are seeing bare metal.

3. It is mismarked and is really a 63.

4. It's been refinished in some dull color.

I could be Metalife finish. I had two Ruger single actions done in it, and it looks just like S&W stainless. Everyone I showed them to, wanted to know where I found stainless steel Rugers.(this was before Ruger was making stainless steel revolvers.)
