Refinished walnut grips from e-bay - Does anybody know who the maker was?
I purchased these used and beat-up grips off e-bay for around $18. I figured I would refinish them and if they didn't suit me I could get my money back...
Here they are after taking the finish off and buffing with 0000 steel wool. I added paste wax and polished thoroughly, but have not decided whether to add anything else. I sort of like them like this - they feel pretty good, but I have not shot with them yet. I like the covered backstrap and am thinking it might help with my long fingers. Anyway, does anybody know who the manufacturer was? Were these from a well-known maker, or just some guy with very good woodworking skills? They don't appear to be the ones from Asia that are sold on e-bay, although those look pretty darn good. Anybody know? Thanks, B

Great work . . . they look like they could be Mustang Grips. They were around in the 70s and were pretty good quality.

A photo of the reverse side of the stocks might help identify them. They cleaned up nicely, you did a great job.

Nice job on the grips - and they do look like Mustang grips. I have a few pairs of those squirreled away for a rainy day project.

DITTO on the Mustangs. That's where I've seen that rearward sweep and flare at the butt.
