Cool Low sn# victory Model for the list

I just picked up a low sn# Victory model from the gun show.
It is sn# V 2048 .
It has no military marks of any kind. no P in front of hammer, no ordinance bomb anyplace no U,S. property nothing !
It is parked and very ruff machining all over.
It is a 4 " barrel 38 special cal. all numbers match on barrel ,cylinder and butt. Under the grips on the right side of gun there is a V stamped at the top of the grip and another one at the bottom next to the grip pin. There is also a G next to the grip pin and a # 1 next to the slot for the hammer spring.
On the left side of the grip frame there is a V between the hammer spring slot and the grip pin and the # 14 in bold print stamped on the back strap under the grip.
The grips have no marks or numbers on them but look like they have been on the gun for 60+ years.
The gun is in great mechanical shape just not taken very good care of over the years as it has a good deal of rust all over . Hope this helps you with your data base. papabyrd

On behalf of my friend and partner, Charlie (ordnanceguy), and myself, we thank you for the contribution to the database. FYI, I would estimate your revolver shipped in June of 1942 through the DSC.

Several close serial numbers show shipping to the DFC ( Defense Supply Co.) in the June-July 1942 period for issuance to various war plants as Guard guns. I would suggest you letter the gun, as most of the DFC guns went to interesting destinations, as the serial range for these guns is in the first month of production for Victory Models. Ed #15
