Default TMJ and FMJ

Can TMJ and FMJ load data be used interchangeably? To be clear I'm talking about Speer TMJ bullets, not plated which I have found some people confuse with Berry's or Ranier. The Speer #12 manual shows 10.0 gr of Blue Dot for a 200 gr. TMJ or Gold Dot in 10mm will give 1159 FPS. That's pretty much identical to the original Norma loading, which is what I'm after. Apparently the original Norma loadings fell a little shy of the 1200 FPS advertised. Anyway, I have some commercial 200 gr FMJ bullets ... could I use this Speer TMJ data?

ETA - Assuming the diameter is identical.

Any time that components are changed you need to back down some and work back up. It's just common sense and good loading practice. That said, yes the data will work.

Speer bullets are plated, but are not like the Berry's or Rainier bullets. The Speer bullets have more or less conventional jacket thickness and are designed for full power level loads, while the other two have a thin layer and are best held to 1200 fps and under.

I was told by Speer when using their bullets, use their data. The reason I emailed them, I had checked out the Hodgdon online reloading data and noticed a discrepancy in my choice of powder and wondered about it so I sent them an email and that was their response-concise and to the point.

Hornady's manual shows four 230 grain bullets for the 45 ACP on p.900 yet they list the same data for all four.

I do not know of anyone currently using Blue Dot or Gold Dot for full power loads in 10mm. I would be glad to hear from anyone who is or has done so.
I am not suggesting that there is anything wrong with those powders in that application, I just don’t know.
Although some people on the 10mm forum seem to be using 800X, the bulk of the full power loads I see are with AA 9, coming in as a close second; AA 7, Power Pistol, third, and some good loads with VV 3N37.
I have been collecting loads for the 10mm for some time chasing the 1200/200gr load at reasonable pressures.
