Default WWI .455 Hand Ejector

I have no idea what this is, but to my eyes it looked interesting enough to alert you collectors. I did not handle it or ask to have it removed from the display case.

The trigger guard tag says "WWI S&W .455 converted to .45ACP $900"

The revolver had a 6" barrel, a deep blue finish, very slight ring on the cylinder. The wood grips looked to be checkered walnut in good condition with no chips or dings, on the side facing up anyway.

I saw this revolver at "A Cut Above" pawn, in Beaverton OR
(503) 277-2274 on 08 SEPT 2010.

That should have a 6 1/2" barrel.
Is it a 1st Model (Triplelock) or a 2nd Model?
IMHO $900 would be a bit of a push for a converted 1st Model and way out of line for a converted 2nd Model.

Thanks for the heads up! It never hurts to mention something like that and someone here just may buy it.

If it's a TL I bet it sells for that price, which I agree is a little high, but someone will pay it.

Years ago, at a Birmingham, Alabama gunshow, a feller was selling what he called a "1917 Smith". I looked at it; it was a TL .455 converted to .45 ACP. I had the money in my pocket, BUT the rent was due. I passed on it.

The price? $135.

Please kick me, hard.

I can't. Can't reach ya, but I can help. Tie a piece o' clothesline to your right ankle. Thow it over your left sholder. Tie a good loop at high chest level. Put all your weight on your left foot, relax right leg, and pull down smartly with both hands. Repeat rapidly several times. It helps if you wear heavy boots and verbalize loudly "I deserve a good ***kickin' " with every jerk. Spurs would be good, if ya have any handy.

If I can help somore, lemme know.

Kritter, it looked very much like your photograph. The checkered wood target grips did not have the S&W logo and they came up higher on the frame as I recall. The blueing was very nice, with no signs of wear except a slight drag mark on the cylinder.
A pawn shop is not a place to get a bargain usually. They stay in business by buying low and selling high.

I don't know,, at that price with questionable stocks. probally too high..
it's funny I've seen converted .455's online at some of the bigger sportsman shops, for stupid high prices ( close to two grand?)
realisticly.. 900 is pushing it..hard...
I've had mine up in the classifieds for 850.. few nibbles but still sitting in the safe..probally going to stay there for a while..
the .455's just don't command the prices of the .44's
