Thank you George for the picture...it means a lot. I was a rookie of 6 months when the Towers were attacked. I now live more than 2500 miles away, but will always be a Brooklyn boy at heart.
All the best to you!

Like Mike said, it is very personal. Over the years I ate there, rode the elevators and walked by them often. A lot of pissed off people will be at the site tomorrow along with the usual folks who pay their respects each anniversary.

. . .or anyplace else in this wonderful country, Mike.
Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war's desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
Bullseye

Granted- I am sure it is.
My condolences to you all who lost friends and family.
I must say it should be personal for ALL of us.
We were all attacked, NY being the main location and suffering horribly.
Brave souls also died in PA fighting for that plane, and doing their duty at the Pentagon.

Sorry folks didn't mean others weren't affected. Everyone in America was. No offense meant.
Some of us had close friends and relatives who perished, that was my point.

None taken, Mike. I just want you all to know we stand with you, and we didn't forget.
Who will ever forget where they were that morning?
Utterly sickening.

I hate to say it, but for some folks, it's just another day. Not for me. I have a picture on my desk that was taken from the observation deck of the towers (can't remember if the deck was on the North or South). That was December 1997. The whole time I was in the area, I couldn't stop thinking the I was standing on a target due to the 1994 truck bombing. If you get a chance, read the book "102 Minutes".

While tomorrow will be a somber day, not a day goes by that I do not think of 9-11. We were a nation united for a little while following that terrible day. We need to regain that spirit of "Country, Unity and Freedom", and live it everyday. We all lost something that day. God bless and keep those who perished. I will never forget.

I remember and I always will. God bless America and may He give our leaders wisdom.
Here's a link to a video paying tribute to the rescue dogs of 9/11.

Twelve years ago during a visit to NYC, my wife and I ate and had a glass of wonderful wine at the Top of The World. I want to cry when I think that wonderful resturant is no more.
The though of a mosque anywhere near the sacred site fills me with rage.

This is a bit off course but being 9-11 I'll pass it along. I have a friend of many years, Bob Newman whose B.D. is Sept.11th. He was in the Navy during WW2. Bob turned 90 today, I called him & he said he's doing fine. God Bless fine men like Bob. And God Bless the USA.

Harrison, I am strongly with you on this. For me, and granted my experience with 9/11/01 is not every man's, but building a mosque so close to the WTC site is synonymous with the thought of building a Shinto temple near Pearl Harbor in 1950, (How do you think that would have gone over?) The timing is horrible for this mosque & to honest it may be a sick joke effectively forever to those who gave some & for those that keep the memory of those who gave all.

But the mosque is necessary for the most intolerant of people to teach the most tolerant people on earth to be more tolerant.

That may explain why the Empire State building was lit up Thursday night in celebration of the end of Ramadan when they wouldn't do the same for Mother Teresa.
