Default 627 PC barrel swap

Hello, new to the forum.

I have searched on SW.com and through google, but can't seem to find an answer.

I have a 627 PC with a 4 inch barrel and I would like to change it out for the 2 5/8 length I see sold on the snubby version. Does anyone know if/where I can order a new barrel?

Thanks for looking.

dvinnola,

I would contact S&W. I sent my 629 to them. They removed the barrel and installed a three inch barrel they had in stock. The edjector rod may also need to be replaced as mine did. It cast me about 225 dollars and I am very satisfied.

Thank you for the fast reply. I guess I will contact customer support and see if they can do the work.

I called Customer Service, and apparently the 2 5/8 627 barrels are special, and they do not make extras for what I am trying to do. Apparently the customer service representative did a search and there are "no barrels at all that exist" for the 627. Does anyone have ideas or thoughts? I would really hate to sell on consignment and buy a whole new revolver.

Have you considered a 327 NightGuard. It is the scandium version of the 627 and has the barrel length you're seeking.
