Default Trip to the range after ... too long

I didn't post much about it here on the forum, but I was another victim of the Great Recession a couple of years ago. I was 1 1/2 years unemployed. I like where I work now, but the salary is a fraction of what I lost; actually, I currently make what I was making 16 years ago.

There are several bright spots to my current job, I'm not complaining. One of those bright spots is the young fellow who works with me. He's a gun enthusiast, and a new owner of an M&P 9c.

I took him to the range yesterday, and actually surprized myself at how well I did, not having had much - if any - practice for nearly two years. (I've been here 6 months.)

The big holes are from a G27, the smaller ones from a Buckmark.

'Twas a good afternoon.

You know, a buddy and I go to range every Friday after work. It's the best part of my week. Great therapy. Hang in there.

Any day on the range is a great day. I find it to be a good stress release for me. While it can also be expensive, a person can go there and shoot at a leisurely pace with ammo bought on sale and have a good time at a reasonable cost.

Now tell us at what distance you were shooting.

Oh, nothing impressive; these were two handed at 7.5 yards.

Don't feel too bad, I've only been able to go shooting once in the last year and I really did poorly when I shot. However, it was still fun.

Good for you! I know in hard time's the fun stuff suffer's, but try to get out more often, sound's like you had fun. Sometime I feel a bit guilty as I retired just before the meltdown but seen it comeing and funded my retirement account in a way that was not affected by the disaster. I dident lose a nickel but not makeing much in interest. As a result I still can afford to shoot a lot and in good weather make it out to the range three or four times a week. Hang in there, better time's will come back.

Your comment "hang in there, better times will come back" not trying to start trouble, but was wondering what you think is coming back as "better times" what formula are you using? Good times as we knew them will never be back. Please prove me wrong.

Lately, heat, cold and wet weather keeps me away from the range - and when I do go, I only shoot for about 30 minutes... I get tired too quickly.

Well for one,our country has been in worse shape as in the great depression and have come through due to one thing, "my formula" the endureing quality's of the American people. American's are born free and have the dangest knack for not being down for long. The wacko's have had thier shot at running thing's and after the disaster they have wreaked upon the rest of us and the good honest working folk will do what they alway's have done, make thing's right. Yes I am and have to be optimistic, but a doom and gloom outlook on thing's do not have positive result's.

+1 Vulcan Bob.

Now back on topic... Nice shooting for such a long time without practice. I went through such a shooting dry spell myself many years ago... and when I finally got back out "Twas a good afternoon" too. Cheers to you and your new shooting buddy.
