Default Gun show find 651 2"

I picked up a 651 2inch at the Albany, Oregun show. Does anyone know if S&W will add a 22LR cylinder to a 651? If so, is that a good idea? I never have had a 22LR/ 22mag combo. Are they accurate in both calibers?
I would like have both the 651 and a 63 with
2 inch barrels, but finding a 63 that's - not easy.

I suspect the parts are not available from the factory, but it couldn't hurt to call customer service and ask. I think the cylinders are the same outside dimensions, so a good gunsmith could probably fit the second cylinder if you can find one. There is a recent thread about this topic, several owners of "convertible" .22 LR/Mag guns never use their .22 Mag cylinders, so I doubt using .22 LR in yours will make it less accurate.

By the way, 2" 651s have been very expensive recently - if you paid much less than $1K for yours you probably got a good deal!

I got a great deal, under $500. Now If I can just find a 63 at that price.

Great find, but I dont think you can find the 63 at that price. I picked one up NIB with all papers, tool, etc. I paid $800 Fantastic little gun, that I probably paid too much for. Was a had to have gun for me.
Good luck in your quest.
Tom

I have a 650(3",RB) with the LR cylinder as fitted by S&W. It shoots just as well with the LR clyinder as the magnum. It is the exact same part # as the Mod 63 cylinder. For what it's worth, I only cary two CCI 22mag shotshells along with four Winchester WRFs when using my magnum cylinder. That would be my tackle box loading. Get the LR cylinder, you will get much more use from it!
