New Member - S&W Model 38 Bodyguard Owner
Hello,
First off, a lot of cool information on the site.
I was going through a box of my Dad's stuff and stumbled on a Model 38. It's in pretty rough shape, but I was still wondering if anyone had any info on it.
It has Airweight .38 SPL CTG on the barrel. And it has "Marcas Registradas" under the Made in USA, which I thought was a little weird (may be normal?).
Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Welcome from Iowa.
If you look on the bottom of the butt you'll see a serial number. Probably starting with a "J". Tell us what the number is and we can tell you the year it was made. If you want you can xx out the last few numbers for privacy.

The "Marcas Registradis" was stamped on many older models. I believe (not sure) it indicated that some or all of the gun was assembled in Mexico. It does not indicate an inferior product, merely that the company was saving on labor.
