No deal , the cost tends to run about the same for 45ACP around here . I can find various factory loads and plenty of reloads . THe only thing I can find wrong with it its that the factory loads tend to be very anemic , thus I've learned to roll my own .

In my area 10mm just isn't available. There are places you can buy it online, but reloading is really the only way to go with 10mm. It allows you to make custom loads to meet what you would like for recoil and velocity.

Another great reason to handload...buy a bunch of brass, etc., and have at it. My ammunition is more accurate than factory I've shot as well.

I'm just preparing to reload 10mm. I got a 1066 a short time ago, and have had a hard time finding decent ammunition without ordering it. As a result, I bought 1000 cases, 1000 Golden Sabre 165 gr. HP's, a 1000 Winchester lg. pistol primers and another pound of Unique. I'd like to develop a load in the 1200-1300 fps range, if I can stay within pressure limits. It looks like about 7.5 gr. of Unique is the maximum charge.

I think the Lyman's loading manual states that you can go higher than that. I recall using a heavier charge of Unique when loading 180gr bullets for full-house 10mm loads.

I show 8.0 grains of Unique @ 1,135fps with a 34,100 psi pressure w/ 165 gr.
This information came from the ANSI/SAMMI Z299.3 - 1993 Manual:
(American National Standards Institute)
(Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufactures' Institute)
Pressure Limits - (psi/100)
SAAMI has the 10 m.m. @
Maximum Average Pressure (MAP) = 375
Maximum Probable Lot Mean (MPLM) = 387
Maximum Probable Sample Mean (MPSM) = 405
That is to say 37,500 psi, 38,700 psi and 40,500 psi Max.
Regards,
BM1

Try using Power Pistol by alliant if your trying to get to the 1200 to 1250 fps area. Also Blue Dot is another fine powder for the 10mm I use both and am very happy with it. a Last choice that has lower pressures is 800x I usually use 180 grn bullets (Gold Dots) but use 165's as well

Try AA#7. I have been using it for 20 years for 10mm. You should be able to get 1200 to 1300fps w/o pressure issues with a 165 grain JHP. I use it for pin loads with a 200 grain XTP going 1200fps out of my comped (5.5" bbl) Colt Delta and a bit faster out of my comped 6.5" 610. That load sweeps the pins right off the table into the next county.

i was going to say the same thing either AA no7 or AAno nine.
the glock forum has a big section on 10mm reloading too.
You shouldn't have any problem at all of reaching that velocity with that bullet safely.
