Tell me about my new to me 16-4.
Well I've fallen in love with the 32's in the last year or so. I have a 32h&r Ruger Single Six, and a Browning 53 in 32-20 that are favorites now. I've been looking for a companion for the Browning, because rifle pistol combos are so cool lol. I bit the bullet today and bought a LNIB 16-4 with both 32h&r and 32-20 cylinders from the factory, all paperwork, cleaning kit tools etc. included. I won't get to see the little darling in person for a couple more weeks as I'm working overseas, but tell me more about her. I understand the 32h&r was a rarer guns, but I never heard of an extra in 32-20 being included. Also whats the fair market value on it? Sure I paid a little to much, but that's ok. Thanks in advance.....Dave

You're gonna love the 16-4. I found one (4" barrel like yours) a couple of weeks ago, and finally got it out to the range today. It's my third .32 Magnum, I picked up a 2" 631 a few months ago and just added a 2" 632.

No one else has anything to say? Come on guys this is the only modern 32-20 I've seen other than single actions (which I dig too lol). Help me out on this. It looks like a special order code on the box label. I need help all you S&W gurus!

One thing about Smith & Wesson, you never say never. I think the 32 is a great gun, but I would guess that the 32-20 cylinder is a add-on that someone added to the gun. The only way to tell is to get a letter on it. As Paul Harvey would say - now for the rest of the story - would be in the letter. I like to have a six inch myself, they are hard to find.

The special order code, 0179, indicates it shipped on the 179th day of 1990.

I'd tend to agree - get a letter. I've never seen a 16-4 with a 'factory' supplied 32-20 cylinder and I don't recall anything in the Supica book.

-Does the seller have documentation of this?
-Market value of your gun is what you paid for it

Im not saying the cylinder came from the factory or not ,but back then if you would write the check when you ordered the gun you could just about get what you wanted if it wasnt too difficult.

medicdave;
You have a FINE revolver. I have a 6" Model 16-4 and it is a shooter! It's one of my most prized revolvers. I shoot mostly target loads with my cast bullets in .32 S&W Long cases.
Welcome to a rather exclusive club...

I'm not sure on the documentation, it was exactly what I wanted so I got it lol. It will be a couple more weeks before I get home to see it, but I will send out to have it lettered when I get home. How exciting lol. I agree the market price is what I payed for it, but does anyone have an insured value for the 16-4?

Good find, I have a 16-4 8 3/8 barrel It is an absolute tack driver with any thing I put through it. They are getting harder to find, and if the extra cylinder letters back to a factory order I would say you have a unique one there. Shoot it, enjoy it, take good care of it, it will only go up in value.

I got this one last year. Traded a 6" .44mag Anaconda even for it. The Anaconda was tired, action had been "Improved(?)", and gun was made by the wrong manufacturer. I'm very pleased.
16-4 is fun to shoot, if I can hold up my end it makes me look good.
Enjoy, Kevin

i picked up a 6" 16-4 a couple years ago...very fine to shoot...around here 800 to 1000 is about what they bring (if you can find one) in very fine condition...on some of the auction sites i have seen asking prices of 1400 or so for unfired examples...you have a scarce one...congrats...the grips alone are fetching 125.00 or so now
