Butt stock commercial, or Milspec on S & W MP 15
I need to replace a "fake" collapsible stock ( with a real one) on my new 5.56 Optics Ready carbine.
What do I need, looks like Midway has a zillion, but want to order the right thing.

Mil-spec tube diameter = 1.14"
Commercial tube diameter = 1.17"
If I remember correctly, the M&P 15 uses a mil-spec tube, but measure yours just to be sure.

My M&P MOE is milspec, and I see no reason they would use commercial stocks on any of the other models. When I googled the question, I found someone else that said milspec, so Ithink you're good to go if you get a milspec stock.

1.167", with Mitotoya dial calipers.
I know everyone is wondering how I would up, with an apparently California correct (gasp), MP 15 OR. Traded with a small local dealer, thought the deal was almost too good. Received it in the sealed Smith box with MP 15 OR of the end tag. No flash hider, a 10 round mag, and the before mentioned non-functional collapsible butt stock.
Can live without the flash hider, but I do want a collapsible stock.
Have high Millet rings, and a 2-7 X Redfield on the way.

I broke out my dial calipers......1.145".
Mine is an OR model also.
It would seem that when they use the fake stock, as you call it, they use a commercial sized tube.
Interesting.....glad you took the advice and measured it. Good luck on your project.
