What is the most reliable 22 rimfire shell MFG out there
I have a 22 short astra cub the wife loves to shoot. And all I can find at wally world is remington. About 3 bucks for 50 rnds. Every box has at least 8 misfires. It's not the pistol,as the rounds have good solid hit marks on them. It's just a pain in the ,well you know. I remember once shooting some aluminum 22 lrs,but I cant remember who made them. And I wonder if they came in 22 short. You would think with what they are charging now they would give a better product. Seems the opposite would be the case. As a kid I remember shooting Mohawk 22lrs at 19 cents for 50 and yes 1.90 plus tax for 500 and never having a misfire. But that was in my Speedmaster. Does anybody know of a good 22 short round thats reliable?

I also have an Astra cub in 22 short. Aguila 22 short is consistant and
reliable and usually can be ordered or found at larger gun shows for less money than domestic brands. CCI is reliable and a bit hotter but
not very consistant. I get the most misfires overall in 22 ammo with
Remington and Federal.

I shoot CCI standard velocity in my model 41, probably over 2 cases with very few malfunctions. The last Remington I tried was a couple years ago, it was the worst I have ever used.
Just noticed you were asking about .22 short. I don't know about that, but I would still try CCI.

I bought a couple of boxes of Winchester shorts a while back at Cabela's. they shot just fine in my M-63 and were quite fun to shoot tin cans with.

The last Remington .22s I bought a while ago are the last Remingtons I'll buy. Too may FTFs, FTEs, etc.
Probably would have had more luck using them for slingshot ammo.

I shoot in a .22 Bullseye league and find that the Winchester T22, Winchester Dynapoint, CCI standard velocity (or mini mags), and Wolf Match ammo are all very reliable.
I buy the bulk packed ammo by Federal or Remington when I find it on sale for plinking and general target practice. Most boxes of 500+ will have a misfire or two though occasionally I'll get some that's exceptionally reliable or exceptionally poor.
Generally you get what you pay for with the more expensive ammo being better.
