Where to buy 27-3 grip frame locator pin?
After removing the rubber grips from my 27-3 bought earlier this year I discover the grip frame does not have the locator pin. It came with a set of Rubber Hogues that did not utlize the locator pin for installation.
Any idea what size pin I need or where to order one? I now have a nice set of wood grips which of course requires a locator pin.
Thanks for any info.

The Hogues screw stirrup should have been attached to the locator pin on the frame. Sure you didn't lose it?
You can cut off a piece of a snuggly fitting proper size nail and it will serve the same purpose.

You can order through S&W or any number of parts places, i.e., Brownells, Numrich, etc. I had the same problem when I received a M67 from J&G with Hogue's.

measure the hole in the frame ( you can put a dill bit in that will about "fill" the hole to get a idea), I seem to recall it is around 5/32"?? and we had used some roll pins to do the job, but a piece of Starrett stock ( drill rod) cut to length and make sure you taper BOTH ends so as to NOT crack or split the wood.
As for the Hogue grips we've seen them BOTH ways, using the 'stock' pin or having a wrap around and their own pin, as you may have to remover the locating pin to slide on some of the rubber grips......

I had a 27 that had this missing also. A roll pin works great for this.

IIRC all the locating pins for all S&W's are the same. They are a few dollars at Midway or Numrich.
Some Hogues require you to tap out this pin, I have a few that came like this. 99.9% of people who replace the woods with these Hogues lose or discard the pin.

The newer (softer rubber) Hogues use the pin, the older hard plastic ones required the pin to be removed. Any one of the major parts suppliers or the factory can help you with a replacement.

When I needed one for a 629 a few months ago I called S&W and they sent me one for free.
