Sorry, can't help you on a vault, but, no kids in the house so my 4566 resides in its blue plastic case under my side of the bed along with a tac flashlight. The wifes side has her .38 in the nightstand drawer.

Strike 3,
I used a Gun Vault for several years as a night stand vault. Just recently the lock failed and I couldn't use the keypad to open the door. New batteries did not solve the problem. Upon searching the internet I found out that quite a few others have had similar problems with their Gun Vaults. After reading that I decided to buy a Fort Knox Pistol Box, and I'm glad I did. The Fort Knox vault is rock solid and it uses a mechanical Simplex lock mechanism that doesn't rely on batteries.

If something goes bump in the night I feel a lot better now knowing that I don't have to worry about my pistol vault not opening because of dead batteries or some other electronic failure.
Check out the Fort Knox, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I have a Gunvault micro. I have never had it not open but, I do not trust it either. I can push the buttons and light up the "green" light which means all is good and I have had it not pop open, meaning I have to do it again. The buttons are finicky at times. I keep it locked during the day because I have little fingers in the house and leave it open at night, next to my bed. If I were to do it again, and I eventually may, the Fort Knox above looks good. The Simplex key is a good design and has been around for years. We use them at work on our narc boxes and never have any issues.

I have 4 Gunvault Multi-Deluxe safes in the house and as many children. Safe, secure and FAST to access. After 4+ years of use, all of mine drop open every time the proper code is entered. I use batteries and change them out on the same schedule as the smoke detectors. Perfect size for a pistol, spare mag, MKIII OC, flashlight and whatever else you may need in a HD scenario. They did not have biometric safes when I got mine or I would have considered the Gunvault biometric models. I used to use a keyed lock box, but with kids that's a no-no. And it's probably pretty poor for fast access too.

Thanks for the replies.I did do a little poking around on the gun vaults (brand) and did see a bit of common complaints.Batteries/battery change out,not feeling 100% on function.Customer service being poor.Kind of leaning to look at the Fort Knox ,next.

OK . I ordered the Fort Knox pistol safe. Its 24 lbs. of steel and has a good back ground on the lock mechanism. It has 4 holes in the bottom so you can bolt it down or run a cable to secure it .I dont have anything to compare it to ,so I will give it a 5 of 5 rating. Its built like a tank, and I wont have to worry about anyone getting to the 4566 or 66 ( will hold both) that doesnt need to.I orderd it from Fort Knox and had it in 4 days $ 162.00 shipped.I set up an easy code to get in.You tube has a vid on it.Just thought I would give a little feed back on what I thought.

I love my Stack-On Mini-Storage Vault, it is a nice heavy unit, can be bolted down, has two shelves, and battery has last a long time. Think it cost me $59.99 @ Cabelas. They are listed at $69.99 now. http://www.cabelas.com/product/Stack...n&Ntt=Stack+on

Cannon Quicksafe
I've had mine for over 25 years and it has never failed. I'm confident that it is because it does not rely on a battery powered lock. It has the time proven mechanical Simplex lock mechanism.
I did a quick search and it doesn't look like they are manufactured anymore.
