Default S&W CS9...how much to pay for this one?

CS9, No box or papers, one magazine. Holster wear on most edges and blue wear spots on the LH rear of the slide and safety lever. I want it bad, for some insane reason, but do not want to over pay. All opinions will be appreciated.

It certainly has character, but one mag, no box, and obvious wear for me $275-$325 would be the range I would pay. Do you know previous owner/s? Close inspection of internals would be important as well. Hope that helps. zorro49

With only one mag,no box and obvious wear the outtermost limit I would go is 400.You must consider they are getting harder to come by but I would wait for a better specimen to come along and be willing to part with 600 for 2 mags a box, paperwork, and a nicer CS9.I will look and PM you....Mike

Well, that's going to depend on how bad the seller wants to sell it and the buyer buy it.

I can offer that a friend of mine bought one of the blued CS9's when they were first released for $379, and it came with the standard 2 magazines.

That one has been carried hard, just judging by the exterior wear. If it's been shot hard and not maintained well (meaning sufficient lubrication and periodic recoil spring replacement), I'd pass on it at any price.

The newer production stainless models have steel Novak Low Mount sights (not plastic) and ambi decocking levers.

This is a $350.00 pistol. I offered $275.00. The inside of the gun looks lots better than the outside. The finish on this gun appears to be the same inadequate finish that my #422 and #908 have. It does not stand up to rigorous use...staring at it will cause damage. The lack of a spare magazine bothers me more than the finish.

You should be able to pick up another magazine for a round $30-$35
Yeah, maybe a little stiff but if you ask the seller to knock another $25 because of the lack of another mag. and he bites you can pick up another mag. for that price and still have a CS9 for under $300
Thats how I would play it, but then ...I'm a cheap SOB

I paid about $375 for this CS45. This wear isn't as extensive as the illustrated CS9 but it certainly has some. Pristine, it is not. One mag, no box for that price. That said, the Hogue grips fit my hand really well when firing, I enjoy carrying it A LOT and it has displaced nearly all others in the IWB role.

In short, I really wanted it. I would agree that the finish on those seems to wear very easily. The offered amount of $275 sounds like a bargain. If I had found that gun and it had been in .45, back when I was looking, I would have paid >$275 and <$350.

I found a completed auction on GB for a pristine looking CS9, with box and two mags, that went for $381 in early September.

Colby,

It's too rough. Save your money and keep looking for an example (or another model) in better condition. The longer I've been at this the more I've learned that condition is everything. That said, I don't like safe queens and have very few guns that I couldn't shoot (one or 2). In the long run you're better off paying a hundred more and finding something like Paddlingman's.

/c

The finish on these guns is so fragile to begin with a nice specimen will look like the rough one I posted in very short order, if it is carried constantly. The additional money necessary to purchase a nicer gun might possibly buy another gun. I tend to be thrifty.

I just paid $425 for a minty stainless with 2 mags last month. It was one with the real Novak sights and ambi-safety. I could do without the wider safety levers.
