Default NYPD offduty S&W autos

I know that NYPD authorizes the 3953 and 3914DAO. I've seen pics of the 3914DAO (thanks MTS COP) but not the 3953. Is it a standard configuration like the 3914DAO or is it a TSW model with rail?

Interesting the 3983 isn't listed in the 'Blue Book of Gun Values'. Why would it be omitted.

Never heard of a 3983, how is it different from a 3953?

Lad, did you remove the tang from the frame on that 3953?

The rail-less 3953TSW (and 4553TSW) came from the factory with rounded tangs and chopped grips.

The 3983 is not in SCSW because it was design specifically for an LE contract. If it didn't win the contract, there probably are only a handful of them around.

I bet a gun nut from the 9th Precinct would be willing to give up an apendage for that gun. (The command code, like we'd use on reports and summonses, for the 9th Pct is 009)

I'm tempted to get a letter for that gun just to find out the story behind it.
