Default 586 rear sight question

I hope someone can shed some light on this.
I have a 586 (no dash) 4 inch bbl. that needs complete rear sight.

I ordered one from Brownells, but the screw holes did not align.
When I called Brownells they advised I had the old model sight and they did not have any instock.

I have sent an email to gunparts in Springfield Ma. and hoping they do have one available.
If they do not can anyone advise a possible source.

btw... The mistake was on me and not Brownells, as usual their great customer service dept stated to send it back for a full refund.

Give the "for sale or trade or want to buy" post here in the classified section a try. One of our members should be able to help you out.

I'd also check with Numrich Gun Parts. Last I looked they were sold out of complete rear sight assemblies, but as a possible last resort, it look like they had all the individual pieces to put one together...if you choose to go that route.

Here's a question that I don't have the answer to, but someone else here might...If you can't find a complete assembly, can you order the square tang rear sight leaf from Numrich (in stock) and swap all the internals from the Brownell's sight onto it?

Here's the Numrich link:

My fault...I always referred to them as Numrich, but I see you've already contacted them (Gun Parts).

Sorry,

Eric

As I recall, there is a standard measurement (center of hole for mounting screw, to the rear edge of the base?) that will determine which rear sight assembly will fit. The various K/L frames had different locations for the hole.
