How many mags are with it? Does it have the original box and documentation? How many rounds have been fired through it? Was it carried? The price value can vary so much between guns. A wide price range could be $500 for gun 1 mag with significant wear, whereas a LNIB might run a $1,000 with accessories. Hard to give a good estimate without knowing more info. You can do a Gunbroker search for PD's and see what they range.

OK I have a some more time to research as I wont see it until Wednesday

Gun broker shows very few S/W 1911 only a couple actually sold asking price means very little.
Sorry I wasn't very specific on condition other then good to excellent shape posting by cell phone is very slow.

Sometimes a deal happens fast and you need to have a general ideal on value or someone with personal experience who can offer firsthand advice.

I've got two. The first was purchased on GB for $960. The second was as well but LNIB for $750. The gun shop down the street has one in the display for $10xx.xx. These are all the gunsite commander sized 1911PD guns.

Any thoughts on value
They have a very nice finish and are flawlessly put together for what they are. They are designed a little differently than most other 1911 guns. Barrel hood hole loaded indicator, external extracter, thumb safety is a little weirdly shaped, internal small parts are thinner/lighter than most other 1911's. Guns are light though if that is what you like. Overall a solid mid-level 1911 firearm. I think they are worth the ~ $900 - $1000 price if new.
