I have a 37-1 Model 37 and would like to go to hammerless or a bobbed hammer for a snag free enviroment, my question is. The gun in near 99% condition, would I be making a mistake to molest the factory condition or not. Should I just consider selling or trading toward a hammerless or bobbed hammer revolver. If I do consider option number (1) what sites should I look at to accomplish this change.
Thank You
If you're happy with it I would go ahead and bobb the hammer (find a good gunsmith), it will not change the value much. Trading to a dealer will not get you much beyond $250 and only if you buy one of their guns. IMO you have a better gun (pre-lock) than what is available today.
Another option is to find a bobbed hammer for your J-frame and have a gunsmith fit it to your gun, that way if you ever sold it you would still have the original hammer to go with the gun. Check on gunbroker, or put a "want to buy" here on the forum
