Default Dumb dog!

My wife always wanted a Corgie because her mom had one when she was growing up. About 8 years ago she was given a 1-year old corgie whose owner was going to a nursing home.

That dog was scary smart. One of our kids showed her at the State Fair for 4/H and we always figured it was more the dog training the kid, not the other way around. One time my wife was laying on the floor in the living room. She did something, I don't remember what, that the dog really didn't like. The dog climbed up on the recliner, looked my wife right in the eye, and did a belly flop off the recliner onto my wifes belly. Would not have believed it if I hadn't watched it unfold. The dog guarded the house from everything from stray leaves and I think at least one burgler.

We had noticed the dog seem to be in pain lately but were not sure what the problem was. Saturday my son and I went to a gun show and around 10:30 I called my wife just to check in. She was in tears. She had taken the dog to the Vet to get checked out and found an inoperable tumor in the dogs sinus cavity. The dog had to be put down.

I wrapped the dog in an old bathrobe of mine that she liked to sleep on and we buried her in the back yard next to the kids playhouse. I must be getting a cold or something. For the last couple days my eyes and nose just start running for no apparent reason. Can't be because of the dumb dog, she wasn't even mine.

It's amazing how we become so attached to our friends deepest sympathy. Larry and Linda

I know what you mean about the sniffles. The only time I have ever cried in my adult life has been over the loss of a family pet.

We now have a dog that is strictly a one woman dog and I ain't that woman.

It's a rescue dog and wants nothing to do with any man, not no way.

It's been a year and I am gaining, but I don't think the dog will ever really accept me. It trusts me now, but it's just being polite.

No matter how we ignore dogs, they have a way of worming themselves into our lives, even if we don't want to admit it.

Remember that dumb dog and the 8 wonderful years you didn't like it.

When you are ready, I am sure there is another dumb dog out there needs a job not being liked either.

Very sorry about your little buddy. They can rip your heart out when they go, but it's still worth it.

Sorry about your loss. They can really get to you. The wife and I are looking for a German Shepard to replace our three babies that have crossed the Rainbow Bridge in the last two years. The youngest was 13 and the oldest was 15, all rescue dogs. The last one was a Siberian Husky that left us a couple of months ago and sometimes I think I hear or see him.

Losing a dog is always tough, I've been there before, too many times, and will be there again. I've had mastiff's since 1990 and as much as I love them, I hate their relatively short life span. I feel for ya.

We lost 2 great dogs in the last 2 years. A friend found a stray 30 miles from our home. Called us knowing we were looking for a good dog to take care of. Well we have/had lots of dogs, but this one dog has the personality traits of both the dogs we lost. I never thought that another dog could take their place, but I was wrong.

Default Dumb Dog

Every thing the others said.
If a person is lucky enough to have animals that love and trust you, the loss of one causes you terrible pain.
All of us that are that lucky truly feel your pain.

Sorry for your loss. The best thing that can happen to a dog is getting to live out its days in a home where it is loved. It sounds like you and your family gave her a great life. She knew you loved her and i,m sure returned that affection. My three mutts are all curled up between me and the fireplace as I write this. My blind aussie is keeping my feet warm. My little mixed up poodle/pomeranian mix is keeping my lap warm and my 14 y/o black lab is keeping himself warm by the hearth. If you love and take care of a dog they will be a loyal friend their whole life. They unfortunatly don,t live as long as we do. I miss the ones I,ve had in the past. I was decorating the christmas tree tonight and pulled an ornament out of a box. It was a little yellow lab ornament I bought many years ago. I had just moved into my house and was single. It was just me and my yellow lab Sandy that first christmas. I bought that ornament for the tree. She was stolen the next year. I miss her, but I have lots of memories of a darn good dog.

Spook, one of a kind, Schipperke mix. Some what of an outdoor dog, full of life, but the time came. He was going blind and deaf, still active to the end. It was one of the saddest decides I had to make. The wife and I welled up together for a good hour+. You have my best. At the present Miss Pixie P, doxie, has us under her control. Fur babies are good comfort.

Only a person with no heart hates dogs.

Dogs, horses, cats, heck most "pets", they provide great service to us humans. They make us better than we would be without them.

I am sorry for your loss.

I'm so sorry for you and you wife's loss.

One of my friends has a Corgi; they are neat dogs, and as you said, VERY smart.

All dogs have a way of working their way into your heart, and leaving a mark there, when they are gone.

My sister is going through the same thing. Her dog was there before her two boys were born. When she goes it will be hard on all of them.
