Will CCI CB .22 Longs cause any damage in my new S&W Mod 63 revolver (chambered for LR)? I am concerned about the carbon ring but think if I clean after each use it should be OK. I see no problems shooting .38 ammo in my .357's as long as I clean after each outing. Comments appreciated.
No, they won't cause you any trouble. The case is the same length as the LR round BTW, which places the fouling ring at the same location as regular LR rounds, so that isn't an issue. The lighter loads like this actually do pretty well from a handgun, and give velocities across the chrono that are quite close to those from a rifle barrel.
I have pulled the bullet on several of the Remington CeeBee's, and they do have powder in them. Just to make sure they haven't changed anything since then, I went down and pulled the bullet from a round form a recent brick, and they still have powder in them.
Aguila and a few others make some .22 rounds that are primer propellent only.
