Default Gunshow K-22

Same ole gunshow and same ole dealers, but ya just gotta keep going. Yesterday I scored a beautiful 586 2 1/2 incher and today this one. A dealer that I have bought and sold with held it under his table for me because I bought a 17 4 screw from him a couple years ago and he thought I liked S&W's. (go figure). K22 5 screw from 1950 in 99% condition with matching serial numbers. Not the original grips, but correct for the time era. Anyone want to donate a box???? I am smiling about this one.

You sure find some nice guns over there, Lonnie.
I guess I'll have to come visit sometime.

A 5 screw K-22 with non-relieved diamond targets is a thing of beauty!

Now let's see that 586.

Nice gun Lonnie and no... I ain't donatin' a box!

Very nice setup; an excellent score.

It's not necessarily true that those stocks are not original. In 1950 you could special order the unrelieved targets for the K-Masterpiece revolvers. You might have to letter that one to find out what kind of shoes it wore when they shipped it.

I actually prefer the S&W target stocks to the magnas on Masterpieces. I have target stocks on a K-38 and a K-32; I have to move them around if I want to shoot one of the K-22s.

+1, I do that myself. I have a set of K-targets I move between K22 and K38.

There is a slight chance the stocks are numbered to the gun. Did you look?

Smile Similar K-22

Just picked up a K-22 that looks exactly like yours. Same grips and my serial of 85xxx dates it as 1950 if I am correct. I also felt the grips were not correct. I may send for a letter as was suggested by a fellow forum member. Mine has the the target trigger which is very similar to the one on my 70's era K-22. I didn't know they were available that early. I also was given the correct tools, but no box. Maybe someone can help us.

If I stumbled onto those two scores at my shows, I would have to be revived. Great looking piece!

Lonnie,
I sure hope next year gets a little better for you. It hurts me to see you have to scrounge around the gun shows in little hick towns trying to find a few old guns, when guys not as near as nice as you , are in at places like Dicks, Wholesale Sports, and Wally World, buying brand new, in the box, unused guns.

Your Pal,

Gary

Lonnie, I told you that you paid to much for the Md-586. Just send it to me and I will give you your money back so there will be no hard feelings.
Nice Smith's!

I've never seen K targets numbered on anything but an early Combat Mag.
