Default Generations of Hornady prgressive presses...

Ok, I've come into owning another Hornady progressive press- from the downloads on the Hornady site, it is a Pro 7 which, I believe is two generations behind the current LNL-AP.

I was looking this thing over, and it looks as though little is interchangeable with the LNL-AP, most importantly the sub-plate can't be interchanged with the new one on the current presses, so updating it is out of the question. The reason I'd want to update it is it doesn't have any of the primer feed parts, which Hornady no longer stocks. Well, it isn't too bad- since it is a free press. Maybe this is dajavoo, since I feel like I've had one of these before- I think I gave it away for the same reason.

I really don't need another press, as the LNL-AP is the primary, and a RCBS Ammomaster progressive and a CH Auto Champion which is now finally set up for use in .38.

Anyway, the current press with the zerk fittings and other handy gizmos is the top of the line. Mine has the older primer feed (never messed up on me) and no zerk fittings. Oh well.

I think the Pro-7 was the predecessor of the Pro-Jector. I have a Pro-Jector and I'm using the shell plates I bought for it on both of my L-N-Ls. I guess you could always use the old Pro7 to deprime/size, then hand prime, then use it to charge, seat and crimp.

The Pro-7 was the predecessor to the Pro-Jector, which preceded the L-n-L AP. As you know, the L-n-L AP has undergone several significant upgrades since its introduction. I put my Pro-Jector back into operation about a year ago, after not doing any reloading for a long time. The primer tubes had gone missing, and they are just about the only part Hornady does not have for these presses. I made up some new ones, but I have taken to depriming/resizing cases on a single stage press, hand priming, and set up the Pro-jector with a flaring die in the first station, powder drop in the next station, powder-cop in the third station, seating die in the fourth station, and a Lee FCD in the fifth station. Works quite well, and gives me a chance to thoroughly inspect the brass after sizing, with no primer problems in the press.
