Default need some help guys S&W snub

I found this today sitting in a small shop.and info would be a big help.
thanks

there is some slight pitting in a couple of areas on the cylinder.I think it was stored in a leather holster.the action is very tight and a nice bore I don't think it was shot much.

Looks like a M&P pre model 10 with a 2" barrel. It has five screws on the right side correct (including the one under the top of the right grip panel)?

Nice post war M&P ( pre mod. 10) It has the early half moon front sight which is really cool in my book! They were made with the S serial between 1945-1948. It looks to be in very nice shape for how old it is. If you take the grips off see if the serial # matches they were stamped back then on the back of the grip panel. How much were they asking? I probally would buy if the price is good.

Check in front of the trigger guard should be one more to make 5. Use care in taking grips off not to pry and damage them they are expensive to replace and you wont find the "original" to replace.

"S" numbered guns are 5 screw. You should have 4 on the side plate and one in front of the trigger guard.I have S 910xxx from around 1948 or so.All 4 screw M&P's have a "C" range and date in the late 50's and early 60's.Yours is also a "long action" gun. "C.s" are short action.

$228????
If you're suffering from buyers remorse, I'll step up and bail you out.

I would happily buy post-war transitional M&P's for that price all day long, especially with 2" barrels.

Here in Illinois, most gun shops would put $350 to $400 on this one.

You got a really great deal on a desirable M&P snub!

Hope this helps.

I think it would be worth $500-$600 depending on location and how bad someone wanted it.

You got a great deal, and I want to say I'm sorry for saying 5 screws on the right side, and possibly confusing things/you a bit. I know better, but I was having a brain freeze moment trying to do two things at once. Gettin' old will do that to you they say, and they're right! The other screw will be in front of the trigger guard as mentioned by a more alert poster or three.

The two I mentioned were Apache guys. I'm trying to scan the AH-1 picture that is on my desk now.

This was taken in A Co 24th CAB's hanger in Savannah, GA. We had to disconnect them when ever we were in the hanger. Good catch!

The second time I was at Hunter, I was in K Co 159th. The CAV had the last few Cobras. That was 91-92. My time at Hunter got cut short by a stint in Recruiting. Only good thing about recruiting is that I was stationed in Oklahoma. Can you say Tulsa gun show!!
