Beretta 92fs 9mm "INFINITE JUSTICE" Limited Eddition?

I went to my local ffl dealer today and picked-up my new italian beretta 92fs that I purchased
a few weeks ago.

On the way out i saw a beretta 92fs in the consignment section that looked brand new!

I asked to see it. It said '1 of 1000' engraved in gold and also a gold eagle head on the slide
by the muzzle and the lettering in gold, 'Infinite Justice'.

Missing documentation. No certification papers with pistol case, comes with
1 mag. I then bought it.

Does anyone know the background on this limited edition?
Any info much appreciated.

Don't know about the Beretta but here is the description of Operation Infinite Justice ( from Globalsecurity.org ) :

Operation Infinite Justice
Following the Sept. 11 attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, the Department of Defense designated the military response as Operation Infinite Justice. The origins of the name can be traced back to the 1998 Operation Infinite Reach airstrikes against Osama bin Laden's facilities in Afghanistan and Sudan in response to the bombings of US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania.

Following the disclosure of Operation Infinite Justice, Muslim groups protested the name on the basis that their faith teaches that Allah is the only one that could provide "infinite justice".

Operation Infinite Justice was changed to Operation Enduring Freedom on Sept. 25, 2001

I would be careful buying Beretta 'special edition" guns, since I don't think they merit much value increase because there were so many of them sold. After the 9/11 attacks, it seemed like they kept thinking up a bunch of "specials" as an excuse to dump M9's (92's). And, the "1 of 1000" designations mean it is one of the batch, not the first one made. I don't frequent the Beretta Forum anymore, but there is one if you want to inquire about this. I own both a 92 and a 96 and I think they are decent guns, but I also think Beretta USA was kind of shameless trying to find any excuse to pimp the gun off by wrapping the flag around it and claiming it is a special edition. maybe it's just me, but I think that's slimy.

Thanks for the info & advice.

I understood when I purchased it yesterday that it was 'one of 1000 issued'. I bought it for far less than my new italian beretta 92fs that
I picked-up that day. I do enjoy shooting all my firearms in my collection.

I also enjoy cleaning & maintaining them to like new as possible
condition as well after range time.

Now I can rotate three beretta 92fs's or enjoy taking friends and family
members out to shoot with 3 92fs's.

Interesting. I was at my local shop yesterday and a guy was picking up a "special" M92 that had a rail on it. Something about it being a "special" run also or marked as a Military or Leo gun??
