Full moon pics (post yours?) Now with pics of Lunar Eclipse on Page 2!
A nice full moon tonight, cold clear air and snow on the ground makes it even brighter than I've seen in a while. Location is the Northern Neck of Virginia, near the mouth of the Potomac River. Supposed to have a total lunar eclipse tomorrow night around 1:00 AM, wife says she'll stay up and see if she can get some pics of that.
Pics courtesy of Mrs. Canoe and her Canon Power Shot SX10 digital camera...
Moon, pines and snow:
Pines and moon:
Moon with 80X zoom:
Stay tuned tomorrow and see if she captures the total lunar eclipse!

Taken in the winter at last light (last winter...I think):
Taken a bit later that same winter:
And one from the summer of '09,taken at three something AM:

Hi folks!
As "one who watches the Moons, and Seasons, and Times"; the Full Moon peaks at roughly 02:13CST on the 21st. Here is a surprise. It is a Lunar Eclipse, with the dark peak at the moment of the marked astronomical moment of the Full Moon. The Winter Solstice occurs later in the day at 17:38 CST. The Full Moon is a three day cycle, before it begins to wane. So, Yule, the Shortest Day of the Year, or the Day of Winter's Deep, will be a very special one, for many years to come!
Blessed Be!

I think I have a picture somewhere of a full moon pressed up against a side window on a school bus when I was a kid, but I don't think Lee would allow it to be posted here!

Thank ye,it was fun to get that one on an overcast stormy night, most of the rest where cloud banks I set my digital cam at the lowest speed so it'll pick up,the thing is you have to hold utterly still for a few seconds or the pic comes out fuzzy...or as noted the shot passes and you get nothing.

I would love to post some but I can't seem to get a decent shot. The images always come out blurry.

Here's an old one I found while dusting off some old files on my computer. I did this 8 or 9 years ago for a class in high school. Of course, it's not a real photo, but it is made up of 4 real photos I took... Oh the strange things I came up with back then.

Thanks for all your Moon picture submissions, the ones taken during the day time with mountianous scenery were great.
While everyone else was sleeping, my Wife, (bless her heart) dragged herself out of bed to stand out in the snow, wind and frigid temperatures to take pics of the Lunar Eclipse. A neat event, one that won't be repated for some time.
Imagine what ancient civilizations thought when solar and lunar eclipses occured, they must have thoguht it was the end of the world (EOTWAWKIT). Wonder if they discussed bug out kits for end of the world scenarios, such as volcanic eruptions (Vesuvious), biblical flooding or invasions by Europeans.....
Anyway here's some pics of the Lunar eclipse:

Very cool, and thanks to Mrs Canoeguy!
Re blurry pix, a tripod and setting the camera on a timer, five seconds to pic or whatever, will eliminate that.
